When you're out of words to pray, try this
Other times I feel like I'm just going round in circles boring God with words about things he already knows.
And then sometimes my soul is so grieved by something that words get lodged in my throat.
It was for all these reasons that I've been circling back to a verse I found in Psalms 65:1-2 recently:
Silence is praise to you,
Zion-dwelling God,
And also obedience.
You hear the prayer in it all.
It reminded me, prayer is more than words.
It's actions,
it's trusting God to do his best,
it's reaching for another's hand in the waiting room,
it's a tear running down a cheek,
it's doing what you know is right,
It's a warm meal left on your neighbours doorstep.
I'm finding more and more that I limit God and his ways to my understanding instead of finding freedom in his mystery.
As a child I was taught to pray, "Our father who art in heaven" but as an adult I'm learning to hear the prayer in it all.
