Will Everything Be Okay?

Take a Deep breath
Don’t panic. I’m with you. There’s no need to fear for I’m your God. I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you. I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you. Isaiah 41:10 (MSG)

“Should I be this scared before my wedding day?”
These words were tossed into the air, uttered with panic, before they could be taken back.

I gulped air, pondering how to answer such an honest question.

I shared how I think everyone is fearful before they slip a ring on someone’s finger and speak promises they don’t know how they will fulfill.

We spoke about whether fear lurked because of a character flaw or because this is the start of something unknown.

A character flaw deserves another look, and it requires reevaluation of a relationship.

The start of something unknown simply compels a deep breath, a quiet prayer and insight that God is with us.

I spoke these words to calm my friend’s panic but really I needed to hear them myself.

In less than 3 weeks I will be driving my husband to my hospital so Doctors can give him a brand new blood system. The Oncologists will use chemotherapy to kill his bone marrow and then kick start it again with stem cells.

I want to hear it's all going to be okay. But no one can tell me that. No one really, really knows.

I wished I could turn to my friend and tell her how her marriage would be filled with days and days of her husband walking in with roses and hours of staring into each other’s eyes and talking about nothing but good things. I longed to tell her not to worry everything would be okay but I couldn’t lie to her.

Is there something in your life that is causing you panic? Like my friend and I do you just want to be told, “Don’t worry, everything will be okay.”

God never promised that everything would be okay. (tweet this)

Jesus didn’t say that if we believed in him we’d live a life without suffering. What he did say is that we’d never have to go through anything on our own.

Sometimes when we realise that everything might not be okay we panic, or maybe that is just my friend and I.

I love the way Isaiah 40:10 addresses these same rising feelings of fear:

“Don’t panic. I’m with you. There’s no need to fear for I’m your God. I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you. I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you.”

The courage to start something new doesn’t always require a certainty that this is the right thing to do but the knowledge that God will be with you through it.

Deep breath. Quiet prayer. Remember God is with you. (tweet this)

What are you going through in your life right now that causes you to panic? Do you believe that God will be with you through it whether or not it turns out okay?

Quiet prayer: Thank you God that you’re with me through everything. I’m feeling really weak right now, and unsure of how I’ll make it through this, but God I know your strength will hold me steady.
